XLSX to CSV converter

Local processing. Up to 20 files, 25 MiB total, 100,000 rows and 250 columns per table; 2 million cells per batch.

Open an .xlsx workbook and choose the worksheet you need. Download the current table as CSV, or export every imported sheet as separate CSV files in one ZIP. The workbook is read in your browser; you can try the sample before opening your own file.

Extract the worksheet you need

  1. Open one or more XLSX files, then choose a table from the sheet selector. The first used row supplies column names.
  2. Keep cached values or select formula text and apply the setting. Check the Result and Issues tabs before downloading.
  3. From the Result tab, download the selected table. Choose the ZIP action for all imported sheets instead.

What happens to formulas, numbers and dates

By default, formulas use values cached in the source workbook; they are never recalculated. Missing cached values are reported. Formula-text mode extracts the formula expression, and neither formulas nor macros run.

Ordinary numbers use their stored value: currency symbols, percentage display and zero-padding formats are not retained. Date-formatted numeric cells use their formatted date text. Actual text such as 00123 stays text, but digits already rounded or removed in the source cannot be recovered.

CSV encoding, quoting and export scope

Downloads use commas, CRLF line endings and UTF-8 without a BOM. Values containing commas, quotes or line breaks are quoted as needed. Formula-like text receives a protective apostrophe; CSV does not preserve workbook styles or cell types.

Column selection and masking affect only the current table and its actions. The ZIP contains all original imported tables, including fields hidden or masked in the current preview. To edit the selected result or change export settings, use CSV editor.

XLSX extraction limits and related tools

Choose up to 20 files, 25 MiB combined, with at most 100 imported sheets. Each table supports 100,000 data rows and 250 columns; all tables together must fit 2 million cells. Workbooks expanding beyond 100 MiB are rejected. Files stay in this browser tab.

For other workbook formats, see Excel to CSV. To rebuild a workbook, use CSV to XLSX; to arrange several CSV files into one or more sheets, use Batch CSV to Excel.

Example: one worksheet becomes a quoted CSV table

This synthetic Stock worksheet contains two data rows. Its sku cells are stored as text, so the leading zeros survive. The comma in Cable, USB is enclosed in quotes in the resulting CSV. The preview below omits workbook styling.

Input
Stock!A1:C3
sku | qty | note
00123 | 12 | Cable, USB
00124 | 7 | Adapter
Downloaded CSV
sku,qty,note
00123,12,"Cable, USB"
00124,7,Adapter

Questions and answers

The first used row becomes the header. Blank headings receive names such as column_3, and duplicate headings receive underscores so each column can be selected unambiguously.
