Choose several CSV files and decide how they belong in Excel: separate workbooks, a sheet for each file, one combined table, or a sheet for each matching set of columns. Check the output before downloading; the files are processed in your browser.
Choose how your CSV files become an Excel workbook
| One sheet per file | One XLSX workbook keeps each source on its own worksheet. This is the starting choice; files are not merged automatically. |
|---|---|
| Merge into one sheet | Append rows and align columns by exact header name. Reordered columns still line up. Columns missing from a source are left blank for its rows. |
| Arrange files into sheets | Start with files that have the same set of column names, then choose a destination sheet for each file. Files sent to the same sheet are appended by exact header name; other files stay separate. |
| Separate Excel files | Convert every CSV to its own XLSX and download the workbooks together in a ZIP archive. |
Convert several CSV files in one pass
- Choose the files and check the delimiter and first-row-as-header setting. Each file is read before the batch is ready.
- Review the filenames, row counts and column lists. Similar filenames and overlapping fields are suggestions to inspect, not instructions to merge.
- Choose the output layout. For merged sheets, optionally keep the source filename in an extra column and remove confirmed repeated headers.
- Check the output preview, then download the workbook or ZIP. If a file cannot be read, correct it before exporting the batch.
Keep one header without deleting real data
With the header setting enabled, the first row of each file supplies its column names and is not added as a data row. Headers repeated inside the body are a separate issue: only rows that exactly match that file’s header row are counted, and their removal is optional.
Header spelling matters. Email and email remain different columns; filename patterns never change that. For inconsistent names, use Rename and reorder CSV columns first. To match records by an ID rather than stack rows, use Merge and join CSV files.
Excel values, batch limits and privacy
Text is the default cell type, keeping values such as 00123 and long identifiers intact. Optional number and boolean detection is conservative; formula-like text is written as text. Sheet names are made valid and distinct within Excel’s 31-character limit.
Choose at most 20 files with a combined size of 25 MiB. Inputs together and the resulting tables must fit 100,000 rows and 2 million cells; each CSV supports up to 250 columns. Processing stays in this browser tab. For one file and detailed workbook formatting, use CSV to Excel.
Questions and answers
Yes. Choose one sheet per file, merge into one sheet, or group matching columns. All three choices download one XLSX workbook. Only separate Excel files use a ZIP.
No. A pattern such as monthly numbered exports helps you spot related files. The selected output layout controls the result, and exact column names control field alignment.
